All deliveries shall comply in every respect to the requirements of the FD&C Act as amended and regulations promulgated thereunder.  In addition, the product shall comply with the following specifications:

 

General Description:  White Pepper (Piper nigrum, L) is a light beige color, and has a characteristic, penetrating odor with a hot, biting, and very pungent taste.

                   Moisture                          15.0% Maximum

                   Total Ash                           3.0% Maximum

                   Acid Insoluble Ash             0.3% Maximum

                   Granulation                        5.0%Maximum on USS 6 Mesh

                                                            5.0%Maximum thru USS 12 Mesh                                   

                   Extraneous Material                   Irreducible Minimum

 

The physical and chemical tests shall be performed according to the latest editions of AOAC or ASTA.

 

Storage:       Store in a cool, dry atmosphere to prevent the loss of the volatile fractions.

 

Bacteriological:

                   Aerobic Plate Count         25,000 count/g

                   Yeast and Mold                400 count/g

                   Coliforms                         100 count /g

                   E. Coli                             Negative in 11 grams

                   Salmonella                       Negative in 25 grams
