All deliveries shall comply in every respect to the requirements of the FD&C Act as amended and regulations promulgated thereunder.  In addition, the product shall comply with the following specifications:

 

General Description:  Oregano (Origanum vulgare L. or Oregano spp) has a bright green color, with a strong camphoraceous aroma and a warm, pungent and slightly bitter taste.  The mild Mediterranean type is distinctly different from the more aromatic Mexican type.  Warmer climates produce the more pungent varieties.

The physical and chemical tests shall be performed according to the latest editions of AOAC or ASTA.

 

Storage:      Store in a cool, dry atmosphere to prevent the loss of the volatile fractions.

                   Aerobic Plate Count             50,000 count/g

                        Yeast and Mold                     500 count/g

                        Coliforms                               100 count /g

                        E. Coli                                                Negative in 11 grams

                        Salmonella                             Negative in 25 grams
