All deliveries shall comply in every respect to the requirements of the FD&C Act as amended and regulations promulgated thereunder.  In addition, the product shall comply with the following specifications:

 

General Description:  Dill Seeds (Anethum graveolens L.) are light tan to light brown in color and possess a characteristic faint caraway odor.

 

Chemical & Physical Specifications:

                   Volatile Oil                                2.5%Minimum (ml/100g)

                        Moisture                                 12.0%Maximum

                        Total Ash                                10.0% Maximum

                        Acid Insoluble Ash                3.0% Maximum       

                        Extraneous Material              Irreducible Minimum

 

The physical and chemical tests shall be performed according to the latest editions of AOAC or ASTA.

 

Storage:   Store in a cool, dry atmosphere to prevent the loss of the volatile fractions.

 

Bacteriological:

                   Aerobic Plate Count             100,000 count/g

                        Yeast and Mold                     500 count/g

                        Coliforms                               100 count /g

                        E. Coli                                    Negative in 11 grams

                        Salmonella                             Negative in 25 grams
