At AKFP, we offer an excellent selection of dehydrated onion products from sliced onion to onion powder. Dehydrated minced onion or chopped onion can be used in a variety of recipes. In foods with a liquid base, such as a soup, the dehydrated onion can be added directly to the product without being re-hydrated. In recipes that have limited liquid, the dried onion product can be placed in a pot with liquid for 20-50 minutes and they will resemble a cut onion product. A dash of onion salt can be added to meat products before cooking for additional flavor.

Dehydrated onion products offer many advantages to the food industry including savings in preparation time because the onion products are already cleaned, peeled, trimmed sliced and/or diced. There is no wasted product, and there is a consistent flavor. Dehydrated onion products are produced in a variety of particle sizes. The sizes available range from sliced onion, diced onion, chopped onion, minced onion, ground onion, granulated onion, powdered onion and onion salt. Onion products can be stored for 12 months from date of receipt at ambient or 70 degrees F. or below in an unopened container.

One pound of dehydrated onion products, including Sliced, diced, chopped onion or minced onion gives the same flavor as approximately 8 pounds of fresh onion.
